Distant Thunder With Rain was first performed by Michael Cox, playing his Native American flute, with members of the faculty woodwind quintet at the Capital Conservatory of Music in Columbus, OH on November 3rd, 2011. The music imagines a day at a Native American community in ancient times by depicting Night, Dawn, Sunrise, Full Daylight, Hunting on Horseback, Distant Thunder with Rain, Sunset, Evening, and Night.
