Flux/Jusant - OB/BSN
Composer: Vallon, Marc
for oboe & bassoon
by Marc Vallon - French bassoonist and pedagogue
Dedicated to Emilia and Eleni.
This title includes an oboe part and a bassoon part, both with extensive cues. There is no score.
From the composer:
Flux and Jusant are two French words describing the rising and falling of the tide. It was written for Amelia Merriman and Eleni Katz, who founded in 2019 the Marea Duo, in which they utilize their instrumental and vocal skills. Marea means tide in Spanish and Flux/Jusant aims at evoking in a descriptive manner the coming in and coming out of the tide. Performers are encouraged to be attentive to the overall dynamic shape of the piece and take time between the different sections. Incidentally, the piece includes two short quotations from two 19th and 20th century symphonic works that both evokes the sea and its landscapes.
