by Robert Martin (b. 1948) - American composer
Vega is a solo oboe piece named after the blue-white star in the constellation Lyra. The Greeks saw this constellation as a lyre; however, earlier people saw it as a soaring eagle or vulture. Vega is part of a series of solo wind pieces, each named after one of the heaven's brightest stars.
