Though a prolific composer, Baksa is also a composer who spends much energy in revising his earlier work. Many pieces are now known in forms quite different from that in which they were conceived. The Fantasia for Wind Quintet was premiered as a trio for clarinet, cello, and horn. As with other pieces, there was a total rethinking of the materials in terms of the new combination and an enhancement of the contrapuntal potential of the thematic elements. Written in 1984, revised in 1992.
