The Queen's Farewell
for flexible double reed trio
by Thomas Tollett (ca. 1630-1695) - Irish composer

Edited by Christopher Weait (b. 1939)- American composer, bassoonist, and pedagogue. This work was one of two "Farewells at the Funeral of the late Queen" (Queen Mary II 1662-1694) and was found in James Paisable's oboe tutor, the "Sprightly Companion" published in London in 1695. The other Farewell for four double reeds is by Paisable (available as CW6604C). His tutor may well be the first for the then newly-emerging oboe. The piece typifies occasional music for wind instruments for solemn occasions. This edition may be performed by: two oboes and bassoon, or oboe, English horn, and bassoon, or by two oboes and English horn.
Also available as a bassoon trio: CW6602B
