Composer: Burns, Michael

Publisher: TrevCo

Edition: 1356

for clarinet (or flute), bassoon, and piano
by Michael J. Burn (b. 1963)- New Zealand composer and bassoonist
I. Waltz
II. Shuffle
Riffs is a two-movement work in the style of a Jazz Waltz and a Jazz Shuffle. It was written in response to a request from a bassoon colleague, Will Dietz, for a sort of "jazz primer" for bassoon with written-out solos in the style of improvisation. All of the parts are written out, but improvisation is encouraged. There is an alternate flute part in lieu of clarinet.
