Portuguesa Op 106-BSN/PN

Composer: Busser, Henri

Publisher: TrevCo

Edition: 1111

Portugesa is a 5-minute work and was the 1939 Paris Conservatoire contest solo for bassoon. It is based on appealing melodies taken from popular Portuguese songs, presented by the bassoon in a highly ornamented rendition. The solo part includes two cadenzas and ends on a high e, an unusual feature for a solo by Busser, yet only moderately challenging for today's advanced bassoonist.
