Five Bagatelles for solo bassoon were written on a European tour in 2011 and were completed in the space of only six days. Following the composer's "Five Concert Studies", an extensive and challenging work, he decided to write a much more concise set of characteristic miniatures, each lasting little more than  single page but remaining a whole and structured piece. The Bagatelles may be played singly, in groups, or complete and in an order chosen by the performer.
