Ottatonico
for bassoon and piano
by Lorenzo Salvagni

about the piece:

Ottatonico takes its name from the octatonic (or symmetric) scale, which alternates whole and half steps and is extensively used throughout the piece. It was originally written for trombone and piano; in 2021, the composer revised the score together with his friend and colleague Jon-Erik Chandler, who provided invaluable insights concerning instrumental technique and interpretation.
