Solo de Basson
for bassoon and piano
by Paul Puget (1848-1917) - French composer

This work was written for the Concours du Conservatoire National de Musique de l'Annee in 1899. Edited by Trevor Cramer. The Solo de Basson begins with a slow and somber introduction, followed by a contrasting Allegretto scherzando. The chromaticism as well as the harmonic and melodic structure is inventive and challenging for both bassoonist and pianist. Written in 1899 for the Bassoon Concours at the Paris Conservatory, it was again the concours piece in 1916.
