From May 13th through May 23rd, I will be on tour with the PEN Trio, giving concerts in the United Kingdom and in India. Orders will continue by the TrevCo-Varner Music Staff, but it may take a day or two longer to receive answers to emails and phone calls. Thank you for your patience! Eric Varner

Sonata for bassoon and piano

by Ulysses Kay (1917-1995)

Kay, one of the most important African-American composers of concert music in the generation following William Grant Still, finished this work in 1941 while studying with Paul Hindemith. The work is a single sonata movement, but does not necessarily fit the expected structural requirements of that most academic of forms. Kay published it in manuscript form in 1952, but withdrew it a few years later.
