Rondo Giocoso-BSN/PN

Composer: Parrott, Ian

Publisher: Phylloscopus Publications (England)

Edition: PP286

Rondo Giocoso
for bassoon and piano
by Ian Parrott (1916-2012)- British composer

Rondo Giocoso was written in 1998 at the request of bassoonist Graham Salvage, to whom it is dedicated. The Rondo opens with a sprightly allegro section in 6/8, and the mood changes with a new time signature of 3/4, and a new tempo, andante. The allegro speed and style return twice more, with another andante episode in between. The music is technically challenging, but enjoyable, humorous, and rewarding to play.
