From the Composer:
Some time ago, the germ of a melody popped into my head and immediately declared that it had to be part of a woodwind quintet! As the work progressed I was reminded of a much repeated scene from a very funny silent movie featuring actors dressed as hilariously clumsy, incompetent policemen . . . the “Keystone Cops”: thus the title, Cops and Robbers, a merry chase!
