Three Fantasias, op. 38
for solo bassoon, transcribed from the original for flute
by Friedrich Kuhlau (1786-1832) - German-born Danish composer

In their original form for unaccompanied flute, these three fantasias were first published by CF Peters in 1822. The fantasies make use of borrowed themes: the first uses Zerlina's arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni "Batti, batti, o bel Masetto"; the second uses a canzonetta by Bianchi called "Silenzio che sento qui gran mormorio"; the third, again borrowing from Don Giovanni, quotes "Deh, vieni alla finestra".

Edited by RP Block, 1980.
