Sonata I, op. 3, #1
for double reed quintet: two oboes, English horn, and two bassoons
by Jean-Joseph Cassanea de Mondonville (1711-1772) - French violinist and composer
This work is taken from Mondonville's work, Six Pieces de clavecin en sonates, written in 1734. Originally for piano, this work was later orchestrated by the composer in 1749 as Sonates en symphonies. As such, they lend themselves very well as an arrangement for double reed ensemble. This edition has been edited and arranged by Trevor Cramer.
