Edition: WW5-9858

for woodwind quintet
by Fela Sowande (1905-1987)- NIgerian-born composer

Transcribed by Adam Lesnick

Sowande's music typically integrated elements of native African material with Western art forms. Obangiji is the word for "God Almighty" in the West African Yoruba language. The music was based on a popular local Nigerian folk melody and was originally composed by Sowande for organ.
