1. Challenger (Allegretto) A full bodied hop with a crisp fruity strawlike aftertaste
2. Fuggle (Andante semplice) Delicate, minty and slightly floral
3. Bramling Cross (Leggiero) A distinctive hop with a strong spicy flavor

From the composer:

These bassoon trios were commissioned by Hugh Field-Richards of Hop Vine Music, and whose title and movement names were chosen by Hugh and his wife. The reference to my beverage of choice is designed to add a distinctive flavor to every performance. I do believe that both my music and these traditional hops have been nurtured in the same fertile English soil. 

This piece was a requirement for the 2012 Strasbourg International Bassoon Ensemble Competition.
