The Novice bassoonists in my department use an album of pieces whose titles are dominated by puns involving the suffix "oon". Perhaps bassoonists are particularly addicted t this sort of word play and the title of this piece is offered very much in the spirit of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". Although generally possessing a gently, lilting Latin feel a sultry and more passionate passage lies at the heart of this piece.
