ABOUT THE MUSIC

Connecting to other individuals is a fundamental part of the human experience. "Heart to Heart" is written to illustrate such a connection: a "musical hug" from one person to another, particularly in times of feeling overwhelmed or sorrow. Playable by the casual oboist or the professional alike, this simple duet is written to encourage the practice of reaching out to others (speaking as much to myself as anyone else); for, in so doing, we discover a dimension of joy and beauty that rejuvenates the soul

ABOUT THE COMPOSER

Matt Hess is an American pianist, tenor, and composer from the state of Utah. Classically trained on the piano and other instruments, he has participated in a variety of orchestras, bands, and choirs, including the Tabernacle Choir At Temple Square. A wide variety of musical styles fuel his interests, ranging anywhere from Baroque to rock and metal, or sacred choral to cinematic and synthwave. When not focused on music or audio engineering, he spends his time with his family, writing software, and camping.
