Duetto in C Major
for oboe and viola
by Josef Fiala (1748-1816) - Bohemian composer
I. Allegro maestoso
II. Adagio

Edited by Werner Rainer. In Salzburg's Carolino-Auguteum Museum there is a group of duets for various instrumnets:

  • Duetto for two flutes in D Major
  • Sonate for oboe and violin in G Major
  • Duetto for oboe and viola in G Major
  • Duetto for oboe and viola in C Major
  • Duetto for oboe and viola in C Major
  • Adagio & 10 Variations for oboe and viola in Bb Major
  • Duet for cello and violin in C Major

These duets are not all in the same handwriting and form only accidentally the group of six that were so popular in the 18th century. According to notes by the scribes, the copies were make in the first decade of the 19th century. This does not mean, however, that the pieces may not have been written earlier, perhaps during Fiala's years in Salzburg.
