Three Bassoon Trios
for three bassoons
by Daniel Paul Davis- American composer
1.  Cacciare (The Chase)- 3:40
2. Chaccone, espressivo- 4:00
3. Capriccio, Vivo- 3:50
Composed for the Bosque Bassoon Band, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cacciare (The Chase) is indeed a chase, each bassoon leads or chases after the other bassoons, it is a characteristically bouncy piece for bassoons.
Chaconne is a variation of a simple progression of three ascending Major chords followed by three descending minor chords. There is a great variety of expression and emotional height achieved in this piece. Perhaps a bassoon answer to Barber's Adagio for Strings
Capriccio presents new themes but also reflects on material from the Cacciare and Chaconne at various moments in the movement. It is another characteristically bouncy piece for bassoons.
