Two Trios, op. 18

by Johann Baptist Wanhal (1739-1813) - Czech composer, also spelled Waṅhal, Wanhall, Vanhal and Van Hall

Trio in g minor, op. 18, #4
I. Allegro moderato
II. Andantino
III. Allegretto moderato
Trio in C Major, op. 18, #5
I. Allegro "La Chasse"
II. Andantino
III. Allegretto moderato

In the 1770s, Wanhal had printed in Paris Six Trios for clarinet, bassoon (or two clarinets) and bass (cello). The unusual, almost unique scoring of these pieces makes them a valuable addition to the chamber or house music. They belong to the early literature for clarinet, although the instrument is not treated in a specific way.

Parts are provided (per Wanhal) for performance as a trio of 2 clarinets and one bassoon or one clarinet and two bassoons.  There is no score.
