Edited by Bernhard Pauler. These two quartets, uniquely scored, are a welcome addition to the chamber music repertoire for bassoon. The strings' muted, dark timbre effectively offsets the almost 'solo' role of the Dulcian, which pulls out all the technical and lyrical stops. An 1807 review asserts that "Krommer's instrumental music is always sure of finding a large and appreciative audience, being written with vivacity, artistic skill, and a thorough knowledge of, and consideration for, the advantages of the instruments and of the players themselves."
This edition comes as parts only. There is no score.
