Silver Threads Among the Gold is one of the best old-time parlor songs, which so typify a quieter age, long since disappeared. The Variations were written in the spirit of friendship and fun for the other members of the Finley Bassoon Trio, Frank Morelli and Harry Searing. 
A version for two bassoons with orchestra (or band) is also available.
