Sonata (1922)
for clarinet and bassoon
by Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) - French composer
I. Allegro
II. Romance
III. Final

Edited by Trevor Cramer, this new edition includes:

  • performance score for A and/or Bb clarinet and bassoon
  • performance score for Bb clarinet and bassoon

From the publisher:

The first published score of the Sonata contains many discrepancies. All printed notes have been retained. However, placement or addition of some dynamics as well as some articulations have been adjusted. Since both the first edition and this current edition are published as performance scores, questions as to assignment of some dynamics may be questionable. In many cases, common dynamics and expression marks will appear between the staves. When they are different or required for clarity, they will appear with each instrument. The original key has been retained. However, for some clarinet players this is not user-friendly! Therefore, the publisher has included a transposed score for A clarinet, which will be found following the original version. This may be used for all three movements or movements of the performer's choice.
