by Sir Edward Elgar (1857-1934)- English composer This short work for solo oboe and piano was probably written for performance at the Worcester Glee Club. It is contained in a folio of arrangements and drafts held at the British Library. The manuscript, which consists simply of separate parts for the individual instruments, is not dated, but 1878 is a likely date of composition. It has not been necessary to compose any missing material, but the manuscript is somewhat deficient as regards instrumental indications. Where appropriate, extra dynamics, articulation marks and also rehearsal figures and suggested metronome readings have therefore been added by the editors. The Manuscript carries no title other than the words, "Xmas Music" written on the top corner of the oboe part.
