2015 Houston Young Bassoonist Competition
The Houston Young Bassoonist Competition is a two round competition open to all bassoonists who have not reached their 19th birthday. This will be a one day event with the semifinals beginning in the morning, finals in the afternoon and awards in the evening. All performances will be open to the public. The number of finalists and winners will be determined by the judges. All judges decisions are final. Awards will range from $400-$50.
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS
Semifinal Repertoire. Build a 9-11minute performance with 2 contrasting selections including one free choice and one short list selection. Choose the sections or movements that you want to play that add up to 9-11 minutes. You are responsible for your accompanist (if needed).
1. Free choice piece from the Texas UIL PML class one bassoon solo list or a piece of similar difficulty.
