These studies for contrabassoon have been selected, edited, and arranged on the basis of many years of experience as an orchestral player, and intended to provide the younger generation, particularly students, with a  selection of difficult passages from the operatic and orchestral literature. Excerpts from contemporary orchestra scores are also included since they are often of great difficulty and must be prepared at home through practice and repetition.
